MIDDLEBURY-SOUTHBURY — The 10th annual Region 15 Nutmeg Book Bowl competition was recently held at Pomperaug High School. Winning teams representing Region 15’s four elementary schools competed against each other to answer questions about the ten 2024 Intermediate Nutmeg Book Award nominees. Region 15 congratulates “Book Besties” from Gainfield Elementary School, this year’s district winners in the competition. Members of the winning GES team are Charlotte Satterlee, Corinne Vas and Katherine Blackwell.

SOUTHBURY — After years of being open, Southbury Country Florist, located at 200 Main St. S., is now under new ownership. Kim Bova, a former employee at the florist, is now the owner. “It’s just something that I’ve always wanted to do. It’s been a dream,” Ms. Bova said. “I bought it from the previous owner, I delivered for her for several years and we always joked about me buying it from her. I had the opportunity, so I did it.”

LITCHFIELD — The Waterbury Symphony will present the viola duo Jordan and Rubina Bak, in a concert, ‘BAK TO THE FUTURE, Viola Duets Then and Now’ at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 21 at the Litchfield Community Center. The duo will perform classical masterpieces and contemporary works. The performance will be followed by a complimentary reception.

SEYMOUR — A professional storyteller will explore New England’s history with entertaining folk tales at a program presented by the Seymour Historical Society at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 21. Monica Peterson has performed at the JFK Presidential Library and the New Britain Museum of American Art, in addition to dozens of other venues. In this program, “Tales of New England,” she’ll share stories of bravery, foolishness, love, with a touch of the supernatural mixed in for good measure.
