SOUTHBURY — Whiskers Pet Rescue recently opened a second building “Whiskers Too,” for their adoptable cats to roam around in open space, in Bennett Square, 134 Main St. S. The housewarming and ribbon-cutting event for Whiskers Too will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4. Whiskers Pet Rescue is a no-kill cat rescue organization that takes in cats of all ages. The space next to the rescue recently opened, which is when they decided to open Whiskers Too for a cage-free experience for the cats who struggled staying in cages.
OXFORD — A combination of strong pitching and outstanding hitting improved the Oxford softball team to 6-0 for the season as they picked up two easy victories. Playing in Waterbury, the Wolverines topped Kennedy, 19-2, early in the week, as Lindsey Buinauskas led the way with four basehits. Sienna Lucas ripped a homerun, Maddie DeSombre had a pair of triples, and Vangie Magara had one triple for the victors.
