Woodbury Parks and Recreation stepped into the leadership role in presenting their first version of the popular Woodbury Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 20. The event is an annual tradition in town dating back nearly three decades to its beginnings in the New Morning Market parking lot in Middle Quarter Mall. How it has grown since then into the sprawling, picturesque setting of Hollow Park with close to 115 exhibitors, 16 food trucks, an entertainment stage, kids’ activities, educational programs and community-wide participation.

BRIDGEWATER — Bridgewater dedicated an innovative Veterans Memorial Kiosk on Saturday, April 6 at a ribbon cutting on the steps of Burnham Library. Officials and volunteers worked together to research the names and military records of over 700 residents who served in the military from the Revolutionary War to the present. This touchscreen and keyboard accessible structure, located at the main entrance to the library, represents an updatable digital record of all Bridgewater’s veterans.

SOUTHBURY — Main Street Ballet’s spring production featuring two original works will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at Pomperaug High School, 234 Judd Rd. “Antoinette’s Dream,” created by Artistic Director Lizabeth Skalski is a modern day Cinderella story of a young dancer’s dream to be a great ballerina. Senior Bridget Dolan dances the role of Antoinette. Also featured are seniors Sofia Daddona as the East Indian Princess and Madison Willis as the Turkish Princess.
